Arion Productions Ltd was formed in 2012 by its current Artistic Director Andrew Keates and co-founder Andrew Harmer with the primary goal of presenting theatrical pieces based on artistic merit alone. At Arion, ‘the work’ is paramount.
Furthermore, we are passionate about the professional development of artists within the theatre industry, providing opportunities to work alongside experienced and successful professionals to learn by doing. Arion seeks out the best actors and actresses and fold them all together into a high quality, artistic production often with a theatrical intent to give a voice to marginalised members of society or controversial subject matters.
Previous Arion productions include, Steve Furst: In Character (Underbelly Festival, Komedia Theatre, Astor Theatre, Museum of Comedy, Tristan Bates Theatre), The White Feather (Union Theatre), As Is and Dessa Rose (Trafalgar Studios), Passing By (Tristan Bates Theatre), As Is, Passing By and Rooms: A Rock Romance (Finborough Theatre) and A Winter’s Tale (Landor Theatre), which won Best New Musical in the 2012 OffWestEnd Awards. As an associate producer, productions include Chinglish (Park Theatre).
In 2016, Arion launched a new programme of events called, Portfolio Masterclasses. These one day only events continue to give theatremakers the opportunity to learn specialist skills with exceptional artists. Previous masterclass guests have included Jenny Galloway, Mark Gatiss, Anna-Jane Casey, Danielle Tarento, Annette Badland, Julie Atherton and many others.
In 2017, Arion Productions launched the Show People Podcast – a free theatre podcast that shines a spotlight on the UK performing arts industry, showcasing new talent and interviewing successful theatremakers as a resource to inspire, educate and entertain theatremakers worldwide, who may not have the time or money to attend classes.
